Happy Halloween!
over 2 years ago – Sun, Oct 31, 2021 at 07:13:44 PM

Happy Halloween everyone! Hope you're all having a spooky time and thank you all for all your support so far. As we're getting closer to 60%, we just wanted to share with you some cool things we've come across that you might enjoy as well (and maybe you can use them to set the tone for your next game!)

House on the Rock

Monica Paprocki from Geeks A Gogo recently took me to House on the Rock in Wisconsin and we had a wonderful time at their Dark Side event. Some of you may be familiar with some of the scenes from American Gods. Here's some footage that was taken:

Here's a trailer I made from some of the pieces I came across at House on the Rock (content warning: creepy dolls):

Momo O'Brien's latest video

We also wanted to share with you all our friend Momo O'Brien's Halloween video! Not only does she give us a quick mention, she also talks about some cool things she's been doing to prep for the spooky weekend.

Hope you all enjoy!

50% mark! Would you like to join Clarity?

Thank you so much for your support so far! We're 50% to go with 20 days left, so please share this with your friends and folks who might be interested in this weird anthology of larps, so we can get this made!

In the meantime, we'd like to share with you some materials we've put together for one of the games, Clarity Comes to Dinner. Content warnings include death cults, doomsday, charismatic (but manipulative) leaders.

Clarity Comes to Dinner

In this 6-8 player game, you are a group of old friends from college who are reuniting for a dinner party. Some of you still keep in contact, while others haven't spoken to one another in years after the incident. One of your friends, River, lost contact for two years and they are hosting the dinner party out of the blue with their new friends. What the other characters don’t know is that they are attempting to convert them into their death cult, Clarity.

Here's the cult recruitment video players will play and watch in the middle of the game itself:

And here's a video that Sadia made inspired by their playthrough as River.

We have a few games that use video and audio assets that we'll have placed in the book itself as QR codes for you to easily scan and access.

Other Kickstarters we're excited about

Our friends at 9th Level Games have game they're publishing called Women Are Werewolves! It is a card-based story game by Yeonsoo Julian Kim and C.A.S Taylor in which players take on the roles of nonbinary characters who belong to a family in which only the women transform into werewolves.

Hunters Entertainment is also publishing another one of my games called An Exquisite Crime, that's written and designed by me and Sen-Foong Lim. Players are psychic detectives in this GM-less, dice-less tabletop RPG, where they will draw what happens based on pre-written prompts.

Thanks again for all of your support and we can't wait to see this anthology in your hands.

Heading straight to halfway!
over 2 years ago – Mon, Oct 25, 2021 at 03:16:16 PM

Hey everyone!

You can now watch designers Banana Chan and Sadia Bies have dinner and chat about the games in Suburban Consumption of the Monstrous whenever you feel like it by watching it on demand on our YouTube channel or on our Twitch channel

(Apologies to everyone who tuned in to watch this stream live - despite careful pre-stream tests, my tech refused to play ball when it came to the live process. Argh. Back to streaming school for me, I think.)

On the topic of learning, Sadia's introduced me to a new way of doing book covers - translucent vellum dust jackets (oooooh!). These really enhance the visual appeal of a cover by adding a semi-opaque design layer over Sadia's evocative and grisly cover. Sadia's really excited to not only do this super-swish cover (!), but also to make the books hardback (!!) and FULL COLOUR (!!!)

The book as is - softcover, black and white, unjacketed

These elegant, mouthy beauties are much more expensive to print than the softcover book, of course.  So we need your help! Please share our creepfest book project with your family, friends, colleagues and anyone looking for the ideal Hallowe'en gift, and let's get funded and upgrade your book!

The dream - translucent vellum dust jacket, hardback, and full colour. All-consuming jaws not included.

Until next time,

~Cat

Thank you everyone for the great first day!

Thanks all for getting us this far in the funding! We're all so excited to share with you the weird creepiness of this anthology of 14 games. Tonight, Sadia Bies and I will be doing a live Q&A at 9pm-10pm EST here on Discord: https://discord.gg/nnkygGjJ

If you have the time, please feel free to drop by and say hi! We'd love to have you. Tomorrow, we'll be continuing the discussion on Pelgrane Press' Twitch channel at 6pm-7pm EST. We'll be having dinner and going through each game and the process and inspirations behind all of them.

Thanks again and talk to you all soon!
